Laura Ortiz joined Citibank in August 2016 as an intern in LATMEX Problem Management. In May 2016, Laura graduated Summa Cum Laude Phi Beta Kappa from Florida International University (FIU) with a Bachelor in Political Science and a minor in International Relations. She also received certificates in Asian Studies and Asian Globalization in Latin America. While in college, Laura studied abroad in Seoul, South Korea where she took classes on the Rise of East Asia and Poverty, Inequality, and Economic Growth, which taught her how to examine and interpret real-world data while using cross-country data analysis to study economic growth. Laura served for two years as the Student Board Chair for the Global Civic Engagement (GCE) Advisory Board at FIU. GCE is focused on creating global citizens through local, national, and international engagement, centered on student leadership. While in college, Laura did research for United States Department of State on policy alternatives on closed and closing states (as defined by USAID).
Laura is currently enrolled at FIU achieving her Master’s of Arts in Global Affairs with a corporate citizen track. Laura’s interests include U.S. Foreign policy, financial services, corporate social responsibility, and global security. Laura enjoys spending her free time with her husband and their three dogs, as well as traveling abroad during her vacations.
